Auctions are often overlooked as a great way to get items in front of prospective buyers.
We can help you to access buyers locally, nationally and internationally via our online auctions. All of our auctions are backed up by promotional activity to get the best price possible for your items – they are widely marketed via print adverts, a weekly email, social media, local and specialist media, emails to Antiques Trade Gazette subscribers, and our online catalogues.
Here’s how we can help you sell your item at auction:
Pre-sale Appraisal
A FREE specialist valuation is always the first step to selling with us. Follow the link to use our online valuation service. Please call 015395 66201 to make an appointment with one of our team.
Matching your item to the most appropriate sale
There’s a wide range of auctions taking place throughout the year at 1818 Auctioneers and plenty of ways for buyers to purchase your items – via absentee and online bidding.
We can advise on the most appropriate auction to enter your item(s) into, with a full programme throughout the year and multiple auction catalogues published online every Thursday.
Please see our auction departments pages for more information on each of our auctions. We sell every week, except over Christmas and New Year, and our sales are held via a timed auction format running over a 17-day period to give buyers plenty of time to discover your lots.
Collection, delivery and storage
Once you have your valuation and we’ve identified the right sale, we will offer a convenient date for you to transport your item(s) to us. We can also arrange collection of the item(s) if you would prefer. Please contact us for what’s possible currently, 015395 66201.
Seller Charges
Seller commission: 22.5%.
Lot fees: £5 (on all auctions)
All fees include VAT, photography and insurance.
Our auction house PAT testing policy means everything electrical is tested and anything that fails is responsibly disposed of rather than returned – in both cases the fair cost is passed on to our sellers. Both of these approaches mean that our buyers have a full assurance that their purchases are in safe, working order, and because our sellers only bring goods of quality, the price they get for them is higher.
Valuations services
Valuations for probate and insurance, from £50.
House clearance
We offer a professional, friendly and thoughtful house clearance service. Working seamlessly with our trusted removal teams, we can offer advice, value items, carefully clear the property, and then submit suitable items for auction on your behalf.
At a stressful time, we can help you to avoid further upset from the sight of skips, and many customers are relieved to be using a greener solution that saves on items heading for landfill.
If your clearance items go on to sell at one of our popular weekly, specialist or fine arts auctions, you are also likely to cover any initial clearance outlay.
Please call 015395 66201 to enquire about the service.
