Bethan Thorsby, specialist valuer for our Antique, Vintage, and Retro Textiles department, shares some highlights from the third auction of the year, which runs until September 29th.
“The auction focuses predominantly on womenswear, all from one collector, with pieces ranging from the 1940s to the noughties – with a few Victorian and Edwardian Relics thrown in for good measure.
“There’s plenty of interest with absolutely classic period examples; they’re listed below.”
- The 1940s ostrich feather and crushed velvet dancer’s shoes
- A 1960s four-piece outfit in a purple and brown psychedelic swirl pattern. To match the tunic and headband, you can choose hot pants or flares!
- The 1970s beaded mini bags are just beautiful, tactile and well-made.
“Buyers can also bag a current trend or two…”
- The collarless Jaeger suit from the late 80s / early 90s secures an ‘office siren’ aesthetic.
- And if you are prepping your autumn wardrobe, it’s all about a ‘pop of cherry,’ so the red driving jacket and matching leather gloves lot is one to watch.
