We’re pleased to confirm that the auction raised £1,600 for this fantastic local charity, £195 of which was a donation from our business. One of the eggs, designed by Chas Jacobs, is also going to be staying local as a member of our team has added it to her art collection. A great result all round!
Thirteen big, beautiful eggs, designed by leading and emerging artists, will be auctioned for charity here at Eighteen Eighteen Auctioneers.
The eggs were part of CancerCare‘s Big Beautiful Egg Hunt, which featured 13 stunning, hand-crafted egg sculptures and took place from March 24 to April 2. Egg hunters followed CancerCare’s art trail in shop windows around Lancaster City Centre and all participants were rewarded with a chocolate treat.
The artists include: Chas Jacobs, Yuki Aruga, Ben Ark, Zoey Devaney, Steve Wilson, Anna Saczek, Helen Smyth, Hannah Postlethwaite, Huma Ashad, Vanessa Lamb, and Catherine Marshall. CancerCare’s Jewellery Group members also created a colourful egg.
Anna Saczek, the event organiser from CancerCare, said: “It has been wonderful to see so many families taking part in the trail and being inspired by the artwork. We’re now really looking forward to the auction and sending the eggs on their way to their new homes.”
The proceeds of the egg auction will fund the work of CancerCare in North Lancashire and South Cumbria. We are waiving all fees on the 13 lots in support of the charity.
People can enter the auction at 10am on April 23 or bid online at www.the-saleroom.com. The catalogue for the auction will be online from Thursday 19th and viewings are Friday 20th (1-4pm), Saturday 21st (10am-1pm), and on the morning of the auction (from 8.30am).
